It’s better not to get close to the red cocker spaniel
Based on statistical studies, Spanish veterinarians made an amazing conclusion – the most aggressive breed of dogs turned out to be the apparently good-natured English cocker spaniel.
Marta Amat, a researcher at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, has collected statistics on acts of aggression of dogs of various breeds for the period 1998-2006. 1040 cases of dog attacks on strangers as well as on their own owners were selected. Such a large sample should be considered representative. It was not a surprise that the most aggressive (in descending order) were Rottweilers, boxers, Yorkshire Terriers and German Shepherds. However, the first line in this list was taken, oddly enough, by the English Cocker Spaniels, which were usually considered quite good-natured animals. Involuntarily you agree with the manager in the performance of Nonna Mordyukova from The Diamond Arm that the phrase “dog is a friend of man” is rather strange.
Spanish researchers led by Marta Amat did not stop at the conclusion about the increased aggressiveness of the cocker spaniels, but found out which particular representatives of this breed are especially dangerous to humans. It turned out that red dogs. Moreover, it has long been known that dogs of a red color and any other breeds are more aggressive than others – this is due to the influence of the dyeing substance melamine on the neurotransmitter dopamine, responsible for aggression.
Researchers note that the owners themselves, who are badly raising dogs, are guilty of this aggression. It would be interesting to examine from this point of view the dog lovers themselves. Why in the poem “red-haired, red-haired, caulked, killed grandfather with a shovel” is it specifically the red-haired one?
