Cocker Spaniel History
Although the Cocker Spaniel breed was bred in the British Isles, Spain is considered their homeland. It is believed that it was from there that the ancestors of modern spaniels were brought to the UK, and inspired by these small but strong animals, the British created their own breed, able to hunt in any conditions.
The official recognition of the breed happened only closer to the 20th century, although even in paintings of the fifteenth century you can see cocker spaniels. Continue reading
